Routine.

Mario always fascinated me.

As you play through the stages one after another, you’ll notice a repetition; certain stages reappear with little changes and a few new characters that hurl their shit at us. Then there’s a fire breathing demon spitting fireballs out of its mouth, one hit and we’re toast. You beat your ass around trying to save princess Peach and when you finally get there,

“The princess is in another castle”

Fuck that shit, right? You go on and on but the princess is always in another castle. Did the princess not want to be found? Why’s this guy chasing her? I think Mario enjoys the chase and doesn’t actually care where the princess is.

Mario is someone who is a slave to routine. Maybe. Just maybe and here we are, playing the same shit over and over again until we’re tired and then start over because we lost ourselves in it.

The greatest illusion of our lives is our routine.

  1. At first, I really thought you wrote about the game. Later I saw where this was going.

Wait, well atleast that’s what I think it is “same story”??.

To be on the funny side, why not Luigi Bharath?

  2. Bharath I’m always reading it at the first place but not commenting.
But today I couldn’t hold myself.
I can’t wait till evening to tell you how much I enjoyed reading this.
It was like Mario and Princess peach are personified here.
As if they actually are characters that you’ve met in real life. And how Beautifully you connected them to routine and mundane life of us in general.

    Its very very creative.
    I always enjoy your work!

  3. May be Mario don’t want the princess. May be he just likes the thrill. The only thing that makes him live.
Or Mario is delusional and there is no princess in reality.

Unfortunately we are all bound by our routines and we can’t do anything.
Or we think we can’t do anything about it.

  4. You never fail to amaze me na..!!
Everyday there is something new that makes me love your work even more than the day before..

This was a pure absurdism Bharath. Our routine is chaotic and irrational sometimes(infact most of the time🙁) and I feel…any attempt to impose order will ultimately fail.
    (Ignoring all this)
I still play super Mario sometimes 🙈 but, I haven’t reached to a stage of finding Princess Peach…as if after reaching the castle she runs..she never wanted Mario I guess🤭

    1. You flatter me with your words, Anushka.
Absurdism is everywhere, you only have to look for it. I hate routine but am helplessly bound to it. That’s the absurdity of life.
I looooove Mario but Peach doesn’t like him, I’m telling you.

  5. Mario is a one sided lover maybe. When at the end of every stage he does not get the princess, why does he not understand she’s not interested? 🙄 Leave her, Mario. Apni zindagi me khush raho. Go play with your little brother. 🤣

Bhaiyaaa you should definitely write a research paper on how absurdism is clearly visible in Mario. He has found a routine in the meaningless chase behind Madam Peach. 🤭

    1. No matter how many castles he rushes into, she’s never there. There’s a decoy waiting for him every single time. I think it was Peach’s plan all along; she’s the one sending all the monsters after him. Shatir hai ji wo.
Absurdism har jagah hai ji. Dekho aap dhyan sè.

  6. Omg this killed me.😂 You are so right. We want consistency and things to be the same and when we think of it…it actually is really boring. I never really liked Mario. I enjoyed the first 4 or 5 rounds than got bored af because it’s all the same.

      1. Yes it is…I think it’s because it calms most people…they don’t have to think about what they’re doing…they just go on autopilot and don’t have to worry about what to do next

          1. I completely agree! I enjoy repetition to an extent but after so long I want to learn something new. Do something new. Repetition is how we learn but once we do finally learn it, it’s time to move on to something else.

            1. That would be interesting😂. No body would know what we were doing but we’d be able to learn more skills and I think have a more fulfilled life.

            2. True! This is why i have tried my best to learn as many things as i can. Whenever anyone is willing to teach me something I will go to learn it like flies to honey. I love to learn anything

            3. Yes I also would love to travel the world…but by having skills I will be able to connect with people more. We will be able to understand help each other more. I think by learning skills you will always be able to contribute to the world. We can give everything that we have to offer by consuming more knowledge and giving it when we travel to those places

            4. What do you mean you have no skills??😂😂….everyone knows something
Cooking is a great place to start tho…there’s so many people I know that don’t know how to cook..but it is a skill that’s needed by everyone

            5. I mean, I’m not skilled at anything. I’m just a living carcass floating around on a giant rock in the Milky Way which is insignificant among millions of other humongous galaxies which make ours comparable to a pebble.
Yeah I know. Many people have already suggested but I’m too lazy to learn.

            6. Everyone has skills…including you
              1) you’re alive (so many people struggle with this) so you can help others just by being there
              2) you can communicate and write well…you can get your point and knowledge about things out to the world easier than a lot of others can
              3) you can critically think. This one is obvious after reading your posts. Plus it’s honestly one of the most important skills you can have

I don’t know you in real life but even if you are lazy you got the most important skills down. You just need to harvest some others

            7. like someone that is suicide or depressed or stressed or grieving or anything like that. You are able to be there. To talk to them. To comfort them. Just by being alive and aware to people you can help and contribute in so many ways

            8. I don’t really know how lazy you are but I know someone that is also quite lazy. He literally had to drop out of school bc he just wouldn’t come bc he would sleep or when he did come he couldn’t do any work. This is actually the only thing he truly did do with everything he had. He put others emotions and metal energy before anything else…sometimes physical skills mean nothing if you can’t be there spiritually and connect with people. You definitely are capable of doing that. And you probably have done it without even realizing it

            9. He lives with his grandma bc her husband just died. She is old and has to have someone stay there…when he’s not there he stays at his mom’s house. He doesn’t have a job or anything

            10. Well he gets everything he needs from his mom and grandma…he is my best friend but we don’t talk much anymore. He always struggled getting what he needed tho bc he would not work for himself

            11. He is an amazing person that gets along well with everyone. I hope he gets out of his laziness phase tho…he is still young. He just turned 19. But my point is you can be lazy and still emotional connect and make a difference. He made the biggest impact in my life. I wouldn’t be who i am today if it wasn’t for him

            12. Not necessary…people like me have my opinions already made up about someone…in theory and as a whole people are only going to tell you what they want you to know about that person…if they see good in them they will only tell you the good…if they see bad they will only tell you the bad. By personally knowing them you will be able to make your own opinion without the tinted glasses of others.

            13. True true…that is where I stand. I always try to see the high points and the low points. That is how we learn and help others. I’m glad you see that too. I choose not to trust others opinions tho…it has screwed me over multiple times
